The Simcoe Muskoka district confirmed the latest case of measles in Ontario on Wednesday in an adult who has not travelled recently or come into contact with a known case of measles, they said.A colourized electron transmission micrograph of measles virus particles. Health officials in Simcoe Muskoka advised people to ensure they are up to date with their measles vaccine and remain watchful for symptoms after a case of measles was confirmed in the district on Wednesday.

The person with the confirmed case of measles is an adult who has not travelled recently or been in contact with a known case of measles, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit said in a news release. The news release said the public may have been exposed at the following locations in Cookstown, Alliston, Thorton, Angus and Collingwood:March 5, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, 2-25 King St. S., between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.March 7, Queens Medical Health Centre, 238 Barrie St., between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.March 8, Moon Flour Bakery, 4 Massey St., between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.March 8, Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Emergency Department, 459 Hume St., 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The health unit is reaching out to known contacts who may have been exposed. Anyone who believes they have been exposed to the measles virus is advised to notify the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, it said.Health unit warns public of measles exposure after 1 adult case confirmed in London The confirmed case is the latest in Ontario, with other cases reported in London and York Region. As of Feb. 24, seven measles cases have been reported in Canada since the beginning of the year, according to theHealth officials advise people to ensure they are up to date with their measles vaccine and remain watchful for symptoms, the news release said.
