The two sides have so far failed to reach agreement on a new contract containing productivity measures to offset the cost of a new higher paid grade

Nursing unions and health management are due to return to the Labour Court today in a bid to resolve the long-running nurses and midwives pay and staffing dispute.

Last month's nurses and midwives strike over pay and staff shortages was suspended, rather than called off, when the Labour Court issued a recommendation. However, the parties had three weeks to draw up a new contract for nurses and midwives that would deliver efficiencies and savings to offset the cost of implementing the pay rises.
