Of the 1,565 new cases notified in 2018, more than two-thirds (1,130) were at least 50 years old, and more than half (1,057) were males.

SINGAPORE - There were 29 more total cases of active tuberculosis in Singapore in 2018,compared to 1,536 cases in 2017, said the Ministry of Health in a statement on Sunday .

The authority added that older age groups and men continue to make up a significant proportion of new active TB cases. Additionally, there were at least half a million cases of multi-drug resistant TB, which is more difficult to treat, with death rates as high as 30 to 40 per cent, said MOH.
