Australians urged to use ‘evidence-based’ approach for diet and lifestyle

Many people are finding diets from their friends or the internet instead of using an evidence-based approach to maintain a healthy weight, says The 1:1 Diet Registered Nutritionist Mark Gilbert.

“Most people find a diet from a friend or the internet, and they are not using evidence-based, scientifically validated behaviour change,” he told Sky News Australia. “They are not changing their behaviour, so they are always going to fall back off the wagon once they stop the diet.“So, it is inevitable if you think you can lose weight, and it will magically stay off even if you go back to your same habits that is obviously not going to work.”
