A 77-year-old solicitor was shot by a 79-year-old pensioner in the office of the younger man's law firm. The alleged gunman was found with a loaded rifle and handgun. The police arrived at the scene within three minutes and the suspect was restrained by workers until their arrival. The suspect's barrister requested medical checks while he is in custody.

Solicitor Van Cooney, 77, was shot during the alleged attack by pensioner Sinve Vulic, 79, at about 12.50pm on Wednesday in the offices of the younger man's eponymous law firm. Vulic was allegedly carrying a loaded M1 carbine semi-automatic rifle with the shoulder butt removed and a loaded CZ45 handgun at the time of the shooting.

Officers were on the scene in three minutes, finding five to six workers holding the alleged gunman on the ground, Detective Inspector David El-Badawi said after the arrest. Vulic's barrister Ken Buckman briefly appeared at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, when he requested medical checks to be carried out while the 79-year-old was in custody
