Royal photographer Arthur Edwards has had close contact with the monarchy for over 45 years, following them around the globe to snap them in exotic destinations. And through this, he has gotten to know them quite well, including His Majesty The King.
“We go from one job to the next without a break. I don’t know how he does it, but he’s trained himself.” “But they never ease up, and we’re so lucky to have that. If you think about it, Charles could have done anything he wanted as Prince of Wales. He could have drunk champagne all day, played backgammon and gone to the races, but it was always work, work, work. Even now, he gets up every morning to do his best – and not for himself, but for other people.”
We speak to award-winning portrait photographer Rankin about his groundbreaking shoots with Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles, and royal photographers Samir Hussein and Arthur Edwards reveal what it’s like to cover red-carpet occasions, weddings and spectacular events like last year’s Coronation.
