Safety crews in West Jordan have reported that they have no reason to believe there is a public health risk following their investigation of an odd smell in the area of 9000 South 4800 West.

"It's important to note that low levels of natural gas are not toxic," officials stated. "The odor of natural gas is added so individuals can detect even small natural gas leaks by odor." West Jordan Fire Department Chief Chris Trevino initially said that Jordan Hills Elementary had been evacuated due to the odd smell, though it was later confirmed that the school had just experienced a delayed start and was never evacuated.
