He shook hands with Rishi Sunak for their weekly audience together at Buckingham Palace. Mr Sunak said: ‘Wonderful to see you looking so well.’ Charles joked: ‘It’s all done with mirrors.’ He said all the cards from wellwishers had ‘reduced him to tears’ and highlighted his admiration for cancer charities.

Charles has previously been spotted heading to and from church in Sandringham and being driven out of Clarence House but this is the first time he has been pictured in a formal setting.
