A man was rushed to hospital in the early hours of this morning after suffering serious injuries when he was hit by a car near Heuston Station in Dublin city.

The pedestrian, a male aged in his 20s, was transported to the nearby St James' Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for serious injuriesThe scene of the collision is currently preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, with local traffic diversions in place for motorists.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any relevant information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
