Rochester, N.Y. — Action for a Better Community/Action Front Center is organizing a health screening event as part of the National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day,

Action for a Better Community/Action Front Center is organizing a health screening event that will take place at various locations throughout Rochester on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024. The health event, called, “Get It Done,” will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at various locations throughout Rochester.

In addition to on-site testing, Action for a Better Community/Action Front Center will provide free HIV home test kits and education. There will also be blood pressure screenings and health literature available to participants. The “Get It Done” Initiative has been in place for more than 20 years. Barbers and stylists trained as community health educators promote the prevention of high blood pressure, diabetes, and other diseases, and link people to health insurance, offer smoking-cessation tips, provide testing and screenings and distribute naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses.
