A West Belfast mum has spoken about the devastating impact a skin diagnosis has had on her life. Fionnghuala Maguire would have regularly used sunbeds but during covid, she noticed a new mole on her leg. Having a family history of skin cancer, Fionnghuala kept an eye on the growth before deciding to have it examined by her GP. Speaking to Belfast Live, Fionnghuala said that initially, the growth was a 'pinky-skin coloured mole' before eventually becoming more red.
'I had contacted my doctor's surgery and as they were closed to the public because of Covid, they asked me to send them photographs. I sent off a few pictures and they contacted me to say they wanted to check it out,' she said. 'I spoke to the doctor and they said that they would refer me to the hospital because I have a family history of skin cancer. He also took photographs and measured it and asked me to come back in four weeks.
