A 71-year-old man battling cancer broke a world record by maintaining a plank position for 38 minutes.

Andy Steinfeldt beat the Guinness World Record for his age group, previously set at 36 minutes and 58 seconds, at the Sabes Jewish Community Center in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota on Tuesday. For Steinfeldt, accomplishing the physical feat was tough, but nowhere near as challenging as his fight with prostate cancer, which he recently finished radiation treatment for.A plank is an isometric workout for abdominal muscles that requires a person to hold their body in a pushup-like position, keeping their body rigid with both their core and lower back.
