The Federal Aviation Administration announced the creation of a new committee called the Pilot Mental Health Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) to support pilots with mental health challenges. The committee will focus on breaking down barriers that prevent pilots from reporting mental health issues to the agency. FAA administrator Mike Whitaker stated that the FAA wants to consider the advances in mental health care when evaluating the health of pilots.

Pilots must report certain mental health conditions to their aviation medical examiners, who will determine their fitness to fly
