Parents have been told a pest control service is on the job but environmental health must sign off before reopening

A day nursery has taken the decision to shut for between seven and 10 days due to a rodent infestation, parents have been told.

The day nursery had been based in the Campsie area but moved to temporary premises in Ballykelly due to problems with their premises last year.The day nursery hopes to return to Campsie in 2024. The current premises in Ballykelly are situated in an estate used to house army personnel and families during the Troubles.

The letter said their pest control company had been "trying to maintain this regarding the nursery but with the cold spell at the weekend it has become uncontainable". The nursery said their landlord and pest control company are "now trying to get this situation under control as soon and as quickly as possible" but stressed that "it is not something that can be fixed overnight".
