The escalation in violent incidents in our classrooms cannot be allowed to continue. No member of staff or pupil should ever go into school fearing for their safety.
Staff safety has been compromised in this case to such an extent, it is right to ask whether something has to change when dealing with violent pupils. It is a scandal that some youngsters are forced to wait more than a year for the help they so desperately need – help that would assist in improving their behaviour and protecting them, their friends, teachers and other school staff.
