When does a child become an adult? The answer to this question is in many ways muddier than it was. Over the last decades, the traditional landmarks of adulthood in the west – a job, a marriage, a home of one’s own and a child – have been delayed or have disappeared. Legally, though, the answer is still clearcut: 18.
Is this the best we can do
So glad this issue is getting attention at last. This happened to my sister but she was fortunate to have family support to help her through. Others are not so lucky. Keep talking about this!! 👏🏻👏🏻
This is fuvked
Eh well, guess you’re just gonna have to sort yourself out like the rest of us.
This happened to my son!
Yea, let's get all our kids on psychiatric medication, what could go wrong.
Assuming they're lucky enough to get it before they're 18 in the 1st place. Shocking lack of mental health support in my part of Devon. My son; twice referred, twice rejected, having to make do with GP & peer support + medication. It's not good enough. LostGeneration
I work in mental health. Adult mental health services are massively underfunded. Children’s services receive more. more staff, more resources, etc. The problem is that as soon as children reach 18, services aren’t equipped to step in. We need more funding.
Because once you turn 18, you're magically able to solve everything on your own. 😬
