Improved healthcare is priority for Buhari’s administration — Udoma

Udoma said this in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Akpandem James, on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said there was a reduction by 3.2 per cent of the aggregate Federal Government expenditure from N9.12 trillion in the 2018 budget to N8.83 trillion in the 2019 budget proposal. “As we are able to demonstrate and show improved healthcare outcomes for the money we are currently spending, government at all levels will be encouraged to further increase funding to the health sector,” the minister said.

He emphasised that the workshop was to enable the participants to deliberate on how to achieve better outcomes for expenditure in the health sector. “This is why in the administration’s economic blueprint, the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan , one of the three principal objectives of the Plan is ‘Investing in our People.”

Udoma drew attention to the fact that apart from the federal government, the various state governments and the local government councils have also been prioritising health expenditures in their budgets since responsibility for the health sector was constitutionally shared among all the tiers of government.

If it's a priority for Buhari's administration, why is he planning on taking a medical leave of 10days to London? What's stopping him from using the improved healthcare in Nigeria ?

U ppl don’t av a priority u just wnt to b relevant on the media

How do you mean sir? Not one new hospital built and commissioned In 4 yrs? With no clear policy on health reforms?

I dnt think so. Their should be a law banning public service holders from travelling for healthcare.

What does a brick layer know in the provision of healthcare lpls stop joking with Nigerians

After herdsmen had finished us?

The only proof of this is for him to attend to his health in Nigeria.

The medical healthcare workers in Nigeria should be celebrated for working with next to nothing zero in radiodiagnostics and so many other areas . That is why they excel as incredible clinicians and are quite innovative like when cuban doctors reeled under sanctions.

Nigeria should look at the moribund primary health sectors , check the brain drain of doctors, nurses ,allied health professions fast , even when some want to stay back on small emoluments, the conditions of service delivery is so appalling and they are at Wits end on what to do

Nigeria does not have a PET CT SCAN and that is why Nigerians bleed to travel out for treatment, cancer cases die because tumour spread cannot be localised adequately. Not everyone is rich and can travel so healthcare should be a priority. Health care should not be compromised

Improved healthcare should be a priority today a patient of mine was given June for MRI in Abuja in a government hospital. People came from jogawa ,lokoja , taraba etc and it's the only one working , when it breaks down we are back to zero because of stress on the machine

No wonder he’s going to UK for treatment

When doctors are living Nigeria in droves and Buhari is patronizing UK doctors?
