Breast cancer death rates will fall in the UK and across nearly all of the EU this year, a new study suggests.

A 10 per cent fall has been predicted for France, followed by Germany at nine per cent, Italy at seven per cent and Spain at five per cent.Researchers for the Annals of Oncology journal say national screening programes, early diagnosis and improved management and treatment is behind the good news. Breast cancer related deaths in the EU are forecast to fall from 14.64 per 100,000 women in 2014 to 13.36 women per 100,000 this year – a drop of 8.7 per cent.In the UK, experts predict breast cancer deaths to fall to 10,700 this year, compared to 11,384 in 2014.
