A staggering €300,000 has been raised for GAA star Kieran O’Connor who was diagnosed with a rare cancer.

Thousands attended a 5km walk for the All Ireland winner yesterday to show support in his hometown of Aghada in Co Cork.Around 4,000 people marched from the Aghada GAA ground including friends and family including Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin, the Irish Examiner reports. An online fundraiser smashed the original target of €250,000 and raised €300,000 for the sportsman who might have to travel abroad to get treatment for his condition.Secretary of Friends of Kieran Campaign added that more events have been planned to make sure there are sufficient funds should he need further treatment.“He just can’t believe the response.”Our Irish Mirror Sports Page - which brings you all your Irish and UK sports news - can be found here.
