“The concept of using local teenage cooks to prepare healthy meals for people in their community experiencing health challenges made a real impact on her,” said LaVecchia in a recent interview. Volunteers prepare and deliver nourishing, home-cooked meals directly to the doorsteps of clients—made on-premises at their West Oviatt Street address, then shuttled to their destinations by “village angels.” These meals ease daily burdens of meal prep and offer comfort and care during difficult times.
The collaborative effort promotes a sense of belonging and togetherness between the organization and volunteers, but also with the patients and families they support and collaborators likeVillage Project started out in service to Bay Village but has since grown sustainably to expand its reach to help nearby families in Avon, Avon Lake, Rocky River and Westlake as well.
