As part of this, the government is expanding its scheme offering interstate and overseas workers up to $70,000 to live and work in regional communities to, among other things, include GPs who agree to do any shifts as a visiting medical officer in a public hospital.The existing scheme has attracted 1400 expressions of interest, with about 160 people having contracts finalised and 50 already working in the state.
