A Porter Township man is in custody after police said he stabbed a man at a Valparaiso fitness center in an isolated incident Sunday morning.

Jordan Andrade, 24, is charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to a release from Capt. Joe Hall, public information officer for the Valparaiso Police Department. Around 9 a.m. Sunday, Valparaiso Police responded to Planet Fitness, 1270 Strongbow Centre Drive, for a report of a male who had sustained a knife wound.

“The incident is believed to be isolated to the subjects involved and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” Hall said in the release. The investigation is ongoing and additional information may be released when it’s available, Hall added. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the Valparaiso Police Department at 462-2135. Information also can be texted to TIP411 and enter “Valpo” in the message field prior to sending the message.
