Several western Washington cities, tribes, and a county were awarded nearly $6 million in federal grants to improve drug treatment and family recovery programs.

FILE - An image of Olympia's skyline. Several western Washington cities, tribes, and a county were awarded nearly $6 million in federal grants to improve drug treatment and family recovery programs as part of Red Ribbon Week.

“Each of these entities has identified ways to improve their services and help those struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. Justice Department funding will help identify best practices that can be replicated elsewhere,” said Gorman. The Quinault and Puyallup tribes were awarded about a million dollars to enhance drug treatment services for their tribal members, the DOJ said. The Quinault Adult and Family Healing to Wellness court will use their $1 million to expand services to assist families in recovery. As part of a three-year initiative, services to stabilize those with drug use disorders will be provided.
