The month is almost over, but did you know that the month of October is counted as international Breast Cancer Awareness Month?, breast cancer is one of the leading causes of diagnosis and fatality amongst women. October is the time of year when people get together to celebrate life, but also to promote awareness and early diagnosis.The month is a time to consider people who have gone into remission, but also a good time to focus on your own health.
An examination is important at least once every few weeks to months, and this counts as useful and important for men AND women. Men can get diagnosed with breast cancer too, even though men aren’t known for their breasts, they still have tissues that can become affected. Lumps, pain and/or tenderness, and discharge from the nipple can indicate that you should visit a doctor for further testing. Any changes in the consistency or feeling of the tissues could mean that there is something wrong.Early diagnosis is key, and often leads to the most successful future treatment. Don’t wait to take your symptoms to the doctor.This makes October’s cancer awareness month one of the most important dates of the yearly calendar, yet most people have no idea.
