Breast cancer survivor Drea Murray explains how scalp cooling saved her hair during treatment

Drea Murray, a wife and mother, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021.'Once you get news like that, you kind of have to think, yes, I'm going to lose my hair,' Murray said.She underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and used a cold cap to preserve 75 percent of her hair.

'It was really amazing for me and my mental health,' she said. 'Cold capping was essential for me and my journey.'Cold capping protects hair follicles from being exposed to radiation from chemotherapy.Murray recently spoke with Meredith McDonough of Hearst sister station, WESH, about the process.
