Constantine announced the launch of a new office, the Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention, aimed at preventing gun violence.

Shantel Patu, the executive director of Urban Family, a nonprofit that serves the Skyway area and southeast Seattle, said her team responds to shootings and ensures children have a safe way to get to and from schools. The organization is part of theYesterday, as you know, there was a shooting in the Central District and our community passageways team responded to that incident and then went right back to work as if it’s a normal day, and that’s not normal," Patu said Tuesday.

“We will not end gun violence if we are not each doing our part," said Eleuthera Lisch, director of the newly named Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention. "The people you see here on the stage in front of you are all doing their part. And those of you who came today are clearly doing your part.

“I don’t ever want to experience this again," co-owner Appollonia Washington said. "Can we get patrols? Can we get officers walking by?”
