An inquest has been opened into the death of a teenager in a crash. Harry Patton, 19, died on July 15, 2023, at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after being involved in a road collision.
Nathanael Hartley, assistant coroner for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, opened the inquest into the young man's death on Monday, October 16, at Nottingham Council House on Old Market Square. The coroner explained a post mortem investigation had recorded a provisional cause of death as hypoxic brain injury, which was caused by polytrauma with haemorrhagic shock resulting from a road traffic accident.
The coroner's officer confirmed Harry had been identified by a doctor at the hospital, who had previously treated the teenager and saw him after his death. Mr Hartley officially opened the inquest before adjoining it for the completion of further inquiries.It will be resumed for a final hearing on a date yet to be fixed. Mr Hartley added: "I would like to complete by offering my sincere condolences to Harry's family and friends in relation to their sad loss.
