The sitcom star, 76, who hit the highest peak of her acting career in the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, had been contending with breast cancer for 23 years. Her publicist confirmed her cause of death on Sunday.
She was a popular TV and film actress, who excelled in the stereotypical ‘blonde’ role Somers also cultivated a multimillion-dollar business empire thanks to her work on TV informercials for toning equipment the ThighMaster, and later the ButtMaster. She was a published author of over 25 books, covering topics such as wellness, sex and weight loss, as well as her 1988 memoir Keeping Secrets.
