On Thursday, the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission addressed complaints from applicants seeking a limited number of lucrative medical marijuana licenses in th

e state and decided to modify how it examines applications. The commission faces multiple lawsuits over its awarding process this summer, which has been described as a quagmire. The AMCC addressed submission file sizes, inconsistent redactions and the scoring process.

The commission will now allow applicants to make a presentation to the commission, and while the commission will not perform site visits, applicants will be able to show video presentations of their sites or proposed sites. The commission first issued licenses in June but rescinded them because of tabulation errors. The commission awarded them again on August 10th, but those are the subject of a temporary restraining order and have been put on hold.
