PETALING JAYA: The National Heart Institute (IJN) should placed be under the Health and not the Finance Ministry, says Tan Sri Dr Yahya Awang, who helped set up the institution.

As a pioneer who was involved in corporatising the institution in 1992, Dr Yahya expressed concern that IJN is now leaning towards private care.

There's a news article sometime in the past stating that MoH pays 300 mil every year for the service rendered by IJN. This is due to it being a privately operated gov entity. Since then, MoH already embarked on setting up its own cardiovascular centres. PM4 he loves privatization

No. Best leave IJN alone. If goes under MoH, it'll be another GH.
