“It’s the only choice I got to live, man.'

While at a Missouri hospital, a man with stage four pancreatic cancer was visited by multiple officers, who reportedly searched his possessions for marijuana.

The officer explained the department received a call from someone who claimed they smelled weed coming from Sousley’s room. However, Sousley argued that was impossible because he never smokes or uses ground up plants. He explained that he uses capsules with THC oil, instead. A doctor came into the room and after filling her in on the situation, an officer said Sousley had a bag that they hadn’t yet searched. Sousley argued that he already showed him the plastic bag that had the THC capsules in it, but the officer requested to search the entire bag. Sousley said the bag was filled with medication and would not allow the officers to “dig through that.

Missouri voters approved Amendment 2 in November, which permits state-licensed physicians to recommend marijuana for medical purposes to patients. Although the amendment passed, as of Friday, Missourians could not legally possess medical marijuana and the Missouri Health & Senior Services Department said it wouldn’t be available for purchase until at least January 2020.

Who the hell called the cops on him in the first place?! Someone calls and they have to show up. Cops should’ve just said they didn’t see/smell anything and just left this poor man be. Maybe even hook the guy up from the evidence locker.

His life is being taken from him. Might as well take his pot too. 🤦🏼‍♀️ unbelievable

Oh COME ON.

Hopefully this fellow consented...this picture is against the law...privacy issues.

I wonder if this violated any HIPAA laws.

What chance do the rest of us have ?

Priorities checked... 👿

ReformTheWholeDamnSystem 😖

BrentVaccaro 🙄🙄🙄

Ridiculous

If the police would stop killing minorities and harrasing cancer patients, maybe they would be hated less. Nobody ever wrote a song called 'fuck the fire department'

So what? You might want to educate yourself on 1) police calls for service and 2) hospital administrative searches

sad.....leave the guy alone

Omg disgraceful

Unbelievable

Geez, let the poor guy have his weed. What is the problem in this country?!?!?

WTF😤😱⚡

Go do your job and stop crime somewhere! My God! Who cares if he uses to get thru the pain.

Really? Unbelievable!

🗣FUCK THE POLICE

Nettaaaaaaaa

WTF? Where are we as a society if we are harrassing Stage V cancer patients?

That is unbelievable, what is it that after all these years they got against Marijuana, exept from it being a heeling kind of drug? CBD version of it,

NOOOOO!!!

Disgraceful

What jerks.

Manafort got 47 months

Really ? Wow ? Not cool

SHAME on you! Leave that patient alone! FFS. I come from a cop family and no one should be using cops in this way. Its a disgrace. If the cops initiated it - shame on them! Stage 4 cancer - the most painful btw, and they are looking for weed? Have at it man.

In the heart (heartless?) of Trump country... SWBaptist University SBUniv, Missour State University MissouriState

Jaw droppingly cruel. So, if they find some, will they expedite the trial due to the man's terminal status? What happened to intelligent discretion?

Stage 4 cancer patient takes THC oil in capsules. Hospital thinks someone is smoking marijuana in room, calls cops. Cops find nothing. Sounds like the hospital overreacting and should be the one headlined in this article and not the police.

When that’s the worst crime they have to fight it’s pretty sad

Could have been a newbelgium Hemperor? Smells dank and tastes delicious. And no THC

Why?

shouldn't they be out shooting some unarmed Citizen, instead of looking for a drug used for a cancer patience's comfort?

JenniFink_ This is 100% a HIPPA violation. Should include this in your reporting.

So...this is a shitty situation. They are responding to a call so they are obligated to perform in some way. They made it knows no arrest would made. If they found it and he had a scrip for it they could do nothing. The clown that called them is the real asshole.

Seriously? For pot. They went through a dying man's bags for pot. Seriously. For pot. But yeah, no cops are totally cool. Not bullies or anything.

Unfortunately, Newsweek has disappointed me the most lately so Im going to read and ultimately find out theres way more to this than the headline suggests and they carefully crafted it to get a reaction/likes/retweet.

He was smoking in the hospital

Gotta get those hardened criminals off the hospital sheets

This is insanity.

It's very unfortunate he had to go through this. Stage 4 pancreatic cancer has no cure but if he's using THC it would likely be to combat the effects of chemo/nausea. Sorry you went through this, friend.

They wouldn’t do this to Trebeck.

Alcohol kills, Cannabis cures.................

Cops wonder why there labeled the way they are? Sad
