Girl, 4, given just 4% chance of surviving aggressive cancer has beaten the disease

A young girl given a 4% chance of survival has beaten an aggressive form of childhood cancer – after being the world’s first to receive a pioneering treatment.

Initially, the schoolgirl was fourth on the list to receive the treatment at Sant Joan de Déu children’s hospital but was judged to be the fittest by doctors so she became the world’s first. Now Nicola, of Hornchurch, east London, has urged other parents to consider crowdfunding websites if their chosen treatment is not available on the NHS.
