San Francisco is one step closer to opening resource centers for those suffering from opioid addiction in The City's neighborhoods most affected by the ongoing crisis.
"We want to make sure that we're preventing as many overdose deaths as possible, while being able to support people as much as possible," he said."I think largely everyone is on board within The City family." Nearly $19 million has been allocated in The City budget to fund all services other than overdose prevention at the three wellness hubs. The nonprofits would fund and operate supervised consumption, in which a trained professional monitors drug users to reverse potential overdoses, following New York City's example.
