Measles vaccine doesn’t cause autism, says a new, decade-long study of half a million people

By Isaac Stanley-Becker Isaac Stanley-Becker Reporter based in the U.K. Email Bio Follow March 5 at 5:36 AM The notion that vaccines might cause autism was refuted nine years ago, when a British medical panel concluded in 2010 that Andrew Wakefield, the doctor with undisclosed financial interests in making such claims, had acted with “callous disregard” in conducting his research.

The findings show the vaccine does not increase the risk of autism, lending new statistical certainty to what was already medical consensus. The researchers further concluded vaccination is not likely to trigger the developmental disorder in susceptible populations and is not associated with a clustering of cases appearing after immunization.

He offered that assessment on the eve of a U.S. Senate hearing on vaccines and the outbreak of preventable diseases, where he is scheduled to give expert testimony Tuesday alongside public health officials and other researchers, as well as a teenager, Ethan Lindenberger, who got vaccinated against the wishes of his parents.

The World Health Organization reported 72 deaths from measles in Europe last year. In 2015, a woman in Washington state died of pneumonia after contracting measles. It was the first U.S. death from the disease since 2003. Suzinne Pak-Gorstein, a pediatrician in Seattle and a professor at the University of Washington, said public awareness had grown since Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat who recently launched a bid for the presidency, declared a state of emergency in January. Still, she lamented that a crisis was necessary to jar residents into protecting themselves.

No shit.

Poorer countries have to get humanitarian aide so that their people stop spreading and dying from these preventable diseases. This is a public health issue, not a matter of rights or opinions. Grief...

CyrusToulabi It doesn't matter. There is a growing movement of people who are simply anti-science. Alternative medicine and theories to them are the truth that the establishment is hiding. No amount of scientific studies will convince them of the truth.

No have vancey all about fake

Can you imagine the chaos if they'd announced the other way?

Of course it doesn't, anyone who believes it does is ignorent.

In other news the earth is not flat

Fake Study !

Things we already knew

Nooooooo! I dont believe! What a surprise! Americans love a conspiration theory! They always need to blame someone or something for their problems, even genetic ones.

We know.

Then get rid of THE NATIONAL VACCINE INJURY ACT and hold big pharma responsible!

Shocking

We already knew Wakefield faked his results decades ago!

The claim was that the vaccination triggered autism in some kids and there is no denying that it did , the challenge is identifying what causes it and what is the common gene triggering the allergic reaction .

You think those people will be convinved with scientific evidence? They think climate change is a hoax!

Who funded the study? A pharma company?

It’s entirely possible that vaccines have an ingredient that creates Moon Bat Crazy Radical Leftists. As they appear to be the Nut Cases on the “antiVaxxer Warpath”.

K now what about crohns? ...that connection has yet to be debunked so can we tlk about that maybe? 🤔🤷‍♀️

You would think you would learn after Covington. Check your sources regarding NH GOP wearing pearls. NH Insider. FakeNews WPFakeNews

They studied the wrong thing, anti-vaccers are against the three-dose course

Yes the Hg and Pb is good for you.

People keep making the mistake of assuming anti-vaxxers actually care about facts or data.

That’s good. Too bad it had to be said. Unfortunately MMR is not what anti vaxxers are worried about. For over 10 years now. There is still more to do to educate.

Vaccines cause massive injuries and there proof! Billions paid out to the families of injured children.

Lulz

DUH!

No shit son

No shït.

No duh.

B-b-but according to WebMD!

No shit Sherlock.

That'll be the end of that.

Voting Republican has more chance of causing Autism.

Only half a million.

Now that you said this, I must believe the opposite. You must stop.
