Collaborating with BP Polo Club, two mares were brought to Perak Palliative Care Society where 10 selected cancer patients were given the opportunity to get close to them.“This is the first time we are bringing in animals for therapy. Horses were chosen due to proximity of the club, that is located less than five kilometres from our society,” she said.“Horse was also the natural choice as some patients may be allergic to the hair of other animals,” she added.

The horses, named Palomo and Tobiano, are polo ponies. Their handlers said the mares were still in active service.
