The Cabinet meets in Dublin this morning with health and defence up for consideration.

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly will provide an update on plans to deal with viruses circulating this autumn and winter.

The plans include the roll-out of a vaccination programme which will commence in the first week of October.Mr Donnelly will say that Ireland has secured the adapted Pfizer vaccine, under the EU Vaccines Strategy, which will be administered as the booster.Elsewhere, Tánaiste and Minister for Defence Micheál Martin is due to publish a short-term strategic plan for the Defence Forces, after it is presented to Cabinet today.

The IRG examined the methods for dealing with matters relating to dignity, discrimination, bullying, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct in the Defence Forces. The programme, which includes 27 bills for publication and 23 for priority drafting, is expected to be published after the meeting.
