Long-time Gilas Pilipinas sharpshooter Roger Pogoy has been dropped from the national team roster due to 'serious health issue' according to interim coach Tim Cone.

Cone made this surprise announcement during the hastily-called press conference at the PBA's head office in Libis, Quezon City.'Roger had to withdraw from the Philippine team for health reasons. So that's another whole new issue together and I can't answer questions on that. You have to contact Roger and his doctors.

The Cebuano hotshot was coming off a stint with Gilas in the just-concluded 2023 FIBA World Cup, which Manila co-hosted, where he averaged 6.0 points and 1.2 assists in five games.Taking the spot of Pogoy is San Miguel Beer's veteran shooter Marcio Lassiter. The 36-year-old Lassiter will be making his tour of duty once again for Gilas since helping the Philippines recover the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games last May, with the national squad beating host Cambodia in the finals.
