McDonald's may taste the same from Moncton to Medicine Hat, but menu prices are not always consistent — even at restaurants in the same city.

Your fast food fix may be the same, but the bill may not be. Franchise owners set the price, and that may save you money or cost you.Siva Canjeevaram has lived in Canada for 17 years, but only recently noticed that his son's favourite meal is not the same price at every McDonald's.

Siva Canjeevaram, his wife Lavanya, daughter Meenakshi and son Aditya live in Calgary. Siva says he's become more sensitive to the amount of money he's spending on certain things, like eating out.used the McDonald's mobile app to compare the price of 20 Chicken McNuggets at every McDonald's restaurant in Calgary. CBC queued up the order on the app, but changed locations before finalizing it to see different location's prices .

Riley Walz is a 20-year-old coder based in San Francisco who created the Fast Food Index, an online interactive map that shows the price of every Big Mac in America.
