Right on cue for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Prayers from Maria temporary sunflower field is in full bloom outside Mercy Health Stadium (home of the Lake Erie Crushers baseball team) on Recreation Lane near the French Creek YMCA.

D2 Excavating will tentatively begin catch basin repairs this week with an anticipated completion date of mid-October. The project includes concrete replacement and structural repair of 36 catch basins at various locations . Two-way traffic will be maintained at each location and cones will be used when necessary. Please use caution when driving in these areas.A special groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at South Central Park for the North Ridgeville Veterans Memorial.

For the past few years a committed group of North Ridgeville residents and civic leaders have been working to raise funds and procure sponsorships to build a Veterans Memorial that will respectfully honor and pay tribute to our community’s veterans, according to the North Ridgeville Veterans Memorial website. The website also notes that 72 percent of the funding has been secured. The goal is to raise $400,000. The public can purchase small pavers for $80 to be placed at the memorial.
