An absolute travesty of an article. The FDA has an active misinformation campaign going. Pure kratom hasn’t been attributed to a single death in the U.S. In 2017, there were 2,115,186 calls to poison control. Just 682 of those calls were for kratom. 682 out of 2,115,186.
Using the phrases 'soar' and 'skyrocket' are very misleading. I guess 17 to 682 over that time frame would fit.....except you forgot to mention there are an estimated 3 to 5 million users of the plant. That's called investigative reporting.

My Kratom provider has put out more than 1 salmonella poisoning alert. So yeah, it’s not the Kratom it’s the lack of good QC. That said, I no longer use that provider but came this close to injesting a batch later confirmed to have salmonella. Be aware.

It's a drug, and you can use too much of it and get sick. How many people contact poison control because they have had too many drinks? The key in all of this is moderation.
