She's among a group of women calling for all GPs to have comprehensive menopause training.When Maria Harran suddenly started experiencing brain fog and poor mental health at the age of 43, she didn't know what was happening to her.
"It was just one thing after another, and I was starting to feel a bit like a hypochondriac," she says. One of the key things he pointed out — a priority above neurological and psychological symptoms — was vaginal dryness. "Everyone has had the same kind of bad advice or just lack of knowledge or lack of empathy, I think. Lack of understanding, having not been heard," Julia says.
While menopause is included in the curriculum for general practice training, it's just one of a large number of subject areas covered.
