Food stamp benefits in the Old Dominion are sent on Virginia EBT cards from the first through the seventh of every month, with distribution this month beginning on Aug. 1.Some food stamp recipients have already received their benefits for the month of August, with those with a case number that ends in zero through three getting their payment during the first wave on Aug. 1.
The rest of the beneficiaries will receive their payment on either Aug. 4 or Aug. 7. Those with a case number ending in four or five will see their benefits during the second wave on Aug. 4, and those with a case number ending in numbers six through nine will see their benefits during the third wave on Aug. 7.In the Old Dominion, to be eligible for SNAP benefits, a person may not make more than a certain income depending on household size.
Benefits from the food stamp program can be used to purchase"food or food products meant to be eaten by people," along with seeds and food-producing plants, among other things. Items that are ineligible for SNAP benefits include nonfood items, alcohol, tobacco, medicines, gardening items, cleaning or paper products, pet food, or prepared hot foods.
