Kate Garraway has made sure to keep fans updated of husband Derek Draper's progress after his long battle against the ongoing effects Covid-19 had on his body.
Kate, as writes the Mirror, reflected on Derek's continuing health battle when she picked up her MBE a few weeks ago, with him proudly by her side. Taking to social media, she revealed he was back in hospital, writing: "Well what a week, that started with Derek in hospital and ended with Derek in hospital, but with this extraordinary day in the middle.
"Daily struggles" meant Derek was back in hospital the next day also, as Kate added: "Tomorrow Derek is back in hospital and of course the daily struggles go on - but the fact that he was able to be part of Wednesday is to be treasured & can’t thank everyone in the NHS and all around him who love him for making it possible," she wrote.
She explained: "It's very much a whisper. I don't think we're necessarily going to have a conversation, but you get fantastic moments. Billy had a new basketball and was bouncing it, and he said 'is that new ball?' He said: 'It's nice'... Seeing him able to was amazing. Billy was in tears; they were hugging. It's things like that that really lift you up, and the next day he was really still.
Panellist Linda Robson asked if Derek could communicate, Kate said: "It is very much a whisper and I don't think we are necessarily going to have a conversation but you get fantastic moments where he will suddenly... This is so silly but Billy had a new basketball and he was bouncing it and suddenly Derek asked 'Is that a new ball?'.
