Snapchat augmented-reality creators can now earn thousands of dollars for lenses that go viral

."There's a lot more to be explored there than just a tool for marketing."

Creators in the program whose lenses hit certain engagement thresholds based on views and other proprietary metrics will get paid monthly on a sliding scale, a Snap spokesperson said. The top prize for a lens that achieves the highest amount of engagement in all three countries will be $7,200. If a lens is the most engaging in one of the three countries, a creator will earn $3,500. Other creators will receive smaller payouts depending on how their lenses perform.
