A 60-year-old man suffered a medical emergency while hiking in Sorrento Valley and died Sunday, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department official said.
The man, who was with family members, suffered an apparent cardiac arrest and fell, Battalion Chief Matt Nilsen said. The incident occurred about 4:45 p.m. about 1.5 miles up a trail off Sorrento Valley near Shaw Lopez Road.Bystanders started CPR, and paramedics tried to save the man, but he died before he could be taken to a hospital, Nilsen said.
