Weekend Warriors Have Similar Heart Health to Those Who Exercise Daily, Study Finds

A new study found that exercising only on weekends—known as a weekend warrior—is still good for your heart.

Working out regularly is a goal for many, but work and life can make it challenging. Well, a new study has good news: You may get the same heart-health benefits from working out on just weekends as you would if you exercised throughout the week., analyzed data from more than 89,000 people who participated in the UK Biobank and used accelerometers to track their movement over a week.

But why might so-called weekend warriors have similar heart health as people who work out more frequently? Here’s the deal.It’s important to note that the study didn’t find out why this was the case—it just discovered a link. However, doctors say the findings seem to indicate that hitting at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise is what matters.
