Weeks after seeing her GP about post-menopausal bleeding, Vicki Purnell was under the knife having several organs removed. She's calling for more attention on gynaecological cancers.

"It's completely inadequate, it is not enough, it's not even close to it," Dr Vavrek said.

In 2019, 160 Tasmanians were diagnosed with gynaecological cancer, and of those cases, 74 were uterine. The Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group projects endometrial cases will increase by over 50 per cent by 2040.Medical oncologist Yoland Antill said about 80 per cent of women with endometrial cancer were diagnosed early and cured.
