A torn-up letter was recovered from a bin as part of investigations and it paints a bleak picture of the life the couple were living.

A letter has been discovered which sheds new light on the lonely existence of a Tipperary couple whose bodies were found in their home last summer.

In the letter, the couple offer a scathing review of the health system and elderly care in Ireland, characterising treatment of older people as "very patronising and cruel" and stating they were "perfectly healthy before we came to Ireland." The mummified remains of the tragic pair were discovered with all curtains drawn in their home on 20 June, 2022 when Gardaí conducted a welfare search.
