The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 234 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total nationwide caseload to 4,171,063.

The number of active cases decreased to 5,278 from 5,431. This is the lowest active tally since April 29, 2023. The National Capital Region logged the most number of cases within the past two weeks with 714 cases, followed by Central Luzon with 551, CALABARZON with 432, Ilocos with 299 and Western Visayas with 298.

A total of 5,160 new COVID-19 samples were tested on Thursday, with about 303 tests submitted from over 385 COVID testing labs in the country.
