Anxiety has more of an internal origin. It’s about trying to predict the future and assuming it will go poorly – even though there’s no evidence that’s the case. I may run through every worst-case scenario of delivering the presentation in my head. What if I say the wrong thing? What if my boss thinks I do a bad job?

The benefit of knowing this is you can override the brain in a certain sense and focus on calming down the body.
